Motor Vehicle Accidents: What you need to know

Updated: May 26, 2021

To start, I am so sorry you were in a car accident. On top of the hustle and bustle of a busy life, dealing with the complexities of learning how to use your insurance and get the care you need can be difficult.

But don't worry! We, here at The Koa Clinic, can help guide you though this process. First things first, to make sure you are covered please check in with your car insurance company to make sure you know how much you have in your personal injury protection (PIP) insurance. This is your pot of money that pays for any emergency expense such as ambulance rides or ER bills. Anything left over can be used on acupuncture or other forms of care.

Although you may not feel much pain initially after a car accident, once the adrenaline wears off, pain and other symptoms may develop over the following days to weeks. Pain that I see often in the clinic from motor vehicles accidents are neck pain (whiplash), low back pain, and shoulder pain. It is important to treat the pain early so that it does not become a more chronic condition down the line.

To get started on treatments we will need to know insurance claim number and how much is left in your PIP. Then we can schedule you for your first appointment. I will then evaluate the severity of your pain and let you know your complete treatment plan.
